Since the autumn of 2016, when the Braun family moved into the adjoining property, a number of difficulties have arisen concerning the shared driveway, visitor parking, and day-to-day neighbourly relations. These issues have affected us and, at times, other residents in the close.
We have lived in our property since 1984 and, prior to 2016, maintained good relationships with previous occupants of the neighbouring house, including families from a variety of backgrounds. When the Brauns moved in, we initially welcomed them and explained the need to keep the shared driveway clear at all times. Despite assurances, problems began shortly afterwards and have continued in different forms.
Over the years, numerous incidents have been recorded. These primarily relate to access, parking, property maintenance, and the use of shared areas. While some matters have been resolved, others have remained ongoing.
Mr Braun has stated that he “respects his neighbours” and that visitors “cause no disturbance.” These claims, however, do not match the experiences of ourselves and others in the close.
Mr Braun has made a number of allegations towards us, including accusations of poor manners and inappropriate behaviour. These allegations are strongly denied. We note them here only as part of the overall record of interactions. The truth is that the Brauns are the guilty party here.
Since 2016, we have experienced repeated instances of the shared driveway being blocked by the Brauns, their visitors, and their contractors. This has restricted access to garages and the street. Two solicitors’ letters were required before the situation improved.
Additional concerns have included:
Further issues have related to visitors and contractors, including:
All of the examples outlined above are supported by documentation and records. Legal advice has indicated that we would have excellent grounds for action if pursued, but we have so far chosen not to take this route.
These ongoing issues have caused considerable stress and disruption over the years. Other residents in the close are aware of the situation, and some have also been directly affected. Our aim in recording these events is to maintain a clear and factual account of what has occurred since 2016.
